Grateful for this firsthand realization: that you meet people for a reason and there’s no such thing as coincidence.
This is gonna be lengthy, but please bear with me.
Let me preface this post by saying that as much as I want to be with this person, some factors are just too big for us so we are not going to end up together.
To start, I met this person while traveling last year. Months before my travel, my friends were teasing me that I might meet someone there. And I did.
We kept in contact. Friendly banters here and there.
As our friendship steadily progressed, we realize that we share the same dreams like settling down in this one particular city in our country.
He also confessed his feelings for me. He said that he didn’t really see himself working abroad (where I met him) since he wants to be with his family, but he reckoned that maybe he was meant to be there because it is my favorite country.
We both know that we are at a dead end. But last night, we were talking about how nice it would be to travel back and forth together to this country that I love / where he works right now, and going home together in the city where we both want to settle down in. How nice it is to dream for a bit with him.
It stings, but I realize that maybe I met him for the sole reason of being reminded that love truly exists. And no, we are not together, but his unexpected presence in my life really reminded me of how strong love is, because it is already within me.
I met him, he met me, so we can remind each other that love is indeed, real.
Mac, I’m gonna miss you for life. Thank you.
