I’m grateful I waited to get married via /r/gratitude

I was engaged for like 15 years to my ex. I think him proposing was more of a gesture than an actual desire to be married. I was fine with this though. From a young age I accepted that I wasn’t marriage material. So I convinced myself that it was fine. Then when my ex and I split up I can honestly say that the best thing I NEVER did was marry him.

Now I’m a 45 year old newlywed and couldn’t be happier with it.
