Today we celebrated my mom’s birthday. She passed away two years ago. via /r/gratitude

It's been closer to 2.5yrs since my mom passed away. It is by far the most difficult thing I have ever gone through; it still is. Today we celebrated her birthday and I'm really grateful we 1. were close to one another 2. so we could come together 3. and celebrate her.
It is a tradition in our family to celebrate the birth of loved ones who have died and eventually the day or time of their death fades away.

I love you, Mom. And I hope we're making you proud.
