I’m grateful for my bad parents via /r/gratitude

My parents were toxic, immature, emotionally unavailable, and unintentionally abusive. However, I believe that my soul chose them to be my parents so that I could learn forgiveness and boundaries and how to love myself without validation from others. I know they did the best they could and loved me in the only way they knew how. May they both rest in peace.
