Day 290 • Grateful for Home Delivery
Some time ago, I did some work for a delivery company myself. The pay was enough to get me through the tough time I was going through but in retrospect, it was not really that good. Considering that I had to use my own vehicle, there wasn’t health insurance, and the delivery windows were so small I was often very stressed doing the job — I think the only reason I did it was because it was a means to an end. Thankfully, I made it through.
I think the hardest part of the job though was struggling to understand why many of the customers didn’t tip well. Yes, there were some good ones, but so many that either gave just a little, or didn’t tip at all.
It’s customary to tip service people.
Today, I was on the other side of the coin. I have an injury and I am in recovery. ❤️🩹 I’m on the mend but it’s going to be awhile before I can resume ‘normal’ activities. Driving is one of those things.
Up to this point I had been driving to get my chores done, and today I realized that there are angels out there to help — just as I once did. So I placed and order and magically items I needed showed up on my doorstep. And I made darn sure I gave a good tip.
I never thought I’d be using delivery service like I used to order pizza delivery when I was a kid — but I am so grateful that it exists today and that I was able to get important things that I need to take the pressure off my injuries and continue to get better.
