Vacation thoughts
I just got home from a very lovely vacation. I struggle with feeling guilty though. I know I am extremely fortunate and I don’t understand why I deserve that? But that is a whole separate issue. Any time I am lucky enough to travel this is what I am amazed by:
I can hop on a metal tube, fly through the clouds, and then be in a completely different environment/climate/culture. Like???? The sheer fact that I get to be alive during a time that this is possible makes me feel so happy.
This morning I was walking along the beach and admiring the absolute POWER of the Pacific Ocean. And now I am back in the Midwest and get to enjoy fall foliage. Literally is this magic???
Also, walking through the airport makes me insanely thankful for everyone who has and is working so hard to ensure that this infrastructure is stable. Thank you to the folks who maintain the plane, who work at all the shops at the airport, thank you to everyone who makes supply deliveries to the airport. Thank you for everyone who makes sure there is toilet paper in the bathroom. Thank you to all the taxi and shuttle bus drivers. Thank you to whomever invented suitcases with wheels. Thank you to all the construction workers who helped build the airport and thank you for the engineers who figured out how to build it in the first place.
And last but not least: thank you to all my fellow humans who decide to be polite, follow the rules, stay in their lines and who choose not to get annoyed by the crying babies or the inevitable person who has never been through a security line before.
