Thank you Noel Sullivan
I don't know where to post this, so I thought I'd post this here. Quick backstory, when I was a kid in school, I was the poor kid in class. I had free lunch and like a cartoon would wear the same clothes until they ripped apart. I was quiet, introverted, and had difficulty learning.
In 3rd grade, the class got to go on a trip to the science museum. We all had a lot of fun playing and learning, kids got to eat from the cafe for lunch, while some had school prepped bagged lunch. When it was time to head back to school, while waiting for the bus, the kids got to go to the gift shop to get gifts with the money our parents gave us. Money was optional, so my mother didn't give me anything for the gift shop. All the kids in the class got money from their parents to purchase a gift. Every kid got to play with their gifts and eat their snacks, except me of course. I was a little sad, but used to it, also I played with every sample toys in the gift shop already and my favorite was the magnet.
A little girl named Noel Sullivan, a short skinny dark brunette although tiny always was confident and stood tall. I too was tiny, we were both the smallest kids in the class. Noel saw and asked why I didn't get anything? I said I didn't have money. Without thinking she said here and handed me crumpled up $5. At that time that was the most money I ever held in my tiny little hand. I said I don't have money to pay her back. She just immediately said that's ok. I just thanked her and went to get the magnet and gave her the change. I thanked her again, got on the bus and played with my magnet on the bus all the way back to school. I was beaming the rest of the day.
I'm an adult now and am grateful with where I am in life. I can read and write now, hah. My family moved out of the projects and I now have a decent job. Every now and then I think of the people who helped me big or small and this week it's Noel. In my head she's still a little girl with the biggest heart who made a tiny quiet kid their day. Noel wherever you are, if you're reading this, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope you get everything you want and I wish you and your family nothing but the best. We need more kind people like you Noel. Thanks again!
