Gratitude: Parable about a Dinner Gathering
Another user posted an inspiring message. It leads me to this reflection:
I feel moved by the amount of gratitude posts and variations in self-expression here on this page.
As I lie here with my buddy, I am so pleased we have this community to cultivate the practice of gratitude.
A friend much older than I by some estimates shared with me such a moving story/parable. I'd heard it years ago and forgotten. It's about a community of folks who are around a table ready to eat their stew. There's a problem, though. When the dinner guests try to bring the spoons to their mouths, they cannot get there. This is because the spoon handles are entirely too long. They find a way to enjoy the stew. It is by them feeding eachother that they are able to each enjoy. . .
I've written beautiful stories and I have been pleased to live a great life. By some estimates, very ordinary. By others' estimates, extraordinary. I send out my light to all of you reading this. Thank you <3
What does this bring up for you reading this? Drop that here in the comments if you feel led to. I'd really feel lifted reading your answers.
