Gratitude towards the people of Sri Lanka
I returned after spending 3 weeks in Sri Lanka.
Of these, two weeks were spent in to separate Buddhist monasteries, where I participated in their Meditation programs. The remaining time I spent cycling to the near about places.
What impressed me about Sri Lanka is their non-commercial generosity and kindness. It appeared surreal, but it is true. Atleast in the rural areas. In todays world to find people who really do not chase foreigners or their money is rare.
The second thing which impressed me was the sincerity with which the meditation programs were conducted. Highly intelligent, yet humble, devoted and dignified monks. With the ability to answer questions with a combination of Logic and Buddhism, given with a smile.
The third is the number of trees which I saw, So many forests. Easily approachable thanks to the smooth roads, crisscrossing the country. One is always surrounded by trees, when one is in the rural areas. Different types of trees. Tall, short, old, new, planned, unplanned, whatever. But there are trees, which are growing abundantly.
Finally the cost of my trip was much lesser than I imagined. So that was a bonus.
I feel extreme gratitude towards Mother Nature, to Sri Lanka, to my destiny. I plan to visit it again very soon
