I am grateful for you, members of this community. Kind people can be hard to find online but you abound here. via /r/gratitude

I’ve been posting here regularly for a few weeks. Like most of you, it’s part of a practice of reminding ourselves of all the things we have to be grateful for. I think for some people this may come easier than for others. I’d suspect those of us here are the ones who have to work at it. That’s why many of us are here.

The key of element of what I feel grateful for this morning is YOU. As we all know the internet can be a cruel place. We have all seen people go online to bare their hearts, souls and most intimate feelings only to get a barrage of mean-spirited and demeaning replies. It can be heartbreaking to see and crushing when you are the target. In this time and place in human history, the internet has become a real source of pain for many people and often people who have come for some sort of social support, affirmation or sympathy. Instead they often receive cruelty. I have gotten none of that here.

On r/gratitude, I have received nothing but positive and encouraging comments and replies to my posts. You people are real outliers on the internet and on Reddit. You’ve responded with kind words, support, and appreciation. You are good souls wandering about in an often desolate landscape. I thank you all.
