I’m grateful for learning to build my own workout routine
I’m relatively new to working out, only been doing it consistently for the past two or three years.
I used a workout video for the first two years and just followed along with it. Keeping up at the same pace as them felt like a challenge. I didn’t feel like I had good form but I ignored that just so that I could keep the pace.
I joined a program that’s teaching me all about proper alignment. I’m learning what it feels like to engage/flex my muscles in an isolated way. That gives me the feeling like I’m able to control the movement more efficiently. And that is making the act of working out feel less daunting to me. It taught me how to isolate muscle groups. It taught me a bunch of different exercises that are tailored to strengthen the specific muscles that I need to strengthen.
Now I’m no longer having to follow along with the videos like I used to.
I’m able to build my own workout routine in a balanced, relaxed, at my own pace kind of way. I can feel the anxiety that used to be attached to exercising melting away more and more every day.
I’m grateful for learning that exercise doesn’t have to be so rigid and structured. It’s turning into something I look forward to doing instead of just looking forward to getting it done.
