I’m grateful for my friends/community
This week I received an incredible amount of support from my friends and community.
Last week I experienced a bad breakup (dumped by someone who treated me poorly), offered to rent out a room to one of my sports league teammates and she moved in, and I received health news I wasn’t expecting (the same day, before the breakup occurred, and after sharing that news with my now ex).
Last night, after my new roommate/tenant moved in, I asked two of the other teammates, a married couple who lives down the street, if they could take a look at my deck stair. They brought all the materials, sawed new pieces for me, put everything back together. I bought them pizza and we invited the rest of the team to hang out. One went with me to walk my dog while the another finished fixing the stair. We had an impromptu pizza party and game night, and took a group Polaroid to commemorate. I noted this is the housewarming party I never had, and it turned out to be just what I, and some of them also noted they needed last night and in these times of their lives.
They showed me what love truly means to me. Showing up, loving and caring for others despite messy feelings, and mutually finding joy in the impromptu moments that make life beautiful and worth living.
