Immensely grateful for my parents. But one lesson in particular. via /r/gratitude

I'm grateful they did not spoil me and actually said no to things when I was younger. A former friend (who I have since cut ties with) had his parents give into his every need and gave him whatever he wanted or let him to do whatever he wanted to do when we were younger. I was jealous of him at that time. But now that I see where he is and where I am, I am super glad I was not brought up like that, because he is mostly likely going to have problems for the rest of his life due to his sense of entitlement, unwillingness to put in effort, and lack of empathy.
