Is Gratitude by itself a legit spiritual path? via /r/gratitude

Many of you have heard of the spiritual teacher Brother David Steindl-Rast, for whom gratitude is his primary spiritual practice. And the Christian mystic Meister Eckhart has said, "If the only prayer you ever said in your entire life was thank you, it would be enough." What do you guys think? Is gratitude by itself a legit spiritual path? For the atheists among us, I'll formulate it like this: is gratitude for you your way of life?
