Still processing this complicated situation but I’m grateful I am going to be a grandfather in early 2026. via /r/gratitude

My son and I are estranged. Divorce and rough teen years can do that but he’s now 34. We haven’t talked in about ten years but today I just learned he and his wife are expecting their first baby; my first grandchild. I may never meet this child but I’m so excited and grateful that I’ll be a grandfather. Maybe becoming a dad himself will soften my son’s heart for his own dad. Even if not it’s a thrill to know he’ll be a dad and that my grandchild will be out there. Sad but yet grateful and hopeful.
