Today, I am grateful for preventative care – and the incredible, supportive, caring people in my life via /r/gratitude

Found out a couple hours ago that I have skin cancer – this was caught on an annual dermatologist check-up. To the average eye, it didn’t look anything like those pictures you see of skin cancer. It was a mole I’ve always had but apparently grew (I didn’t even notice). They took a biopsy just in case, which good thing they did!

Granted, this is not nearly as bad as many who are diagnosed with the “C” word, but still caught me off guard! I suppose you never expect these things.

Something that I really wasn’t expecting though: being met with an outpouring of love from friends. Who knew I would end the day feeling so blessed after speaking to an oncologist about taking a chunk out of my leg? Not me, that’s for sure. People genuinely care and that is something I won’t ever forget.
