Today I’m grateful I was in the right place at the right time.

I was walking along the street to an appointment, I’d actually toyed with the idea of getting a bus but thought a walk would do me good.

Anyway.

It starts raining and up ahead of me an elderly gentleman slips and lands face first on the pavement (sidewalk).

I run up to him, and he’s bleeding from a nasty cut to his nose, and is struggling to get up. I hold onto him and steady him as best I can (I’m only small and not very strong), but he’s very unsteady and nearly collapses again.

I signal to some other passersby and one of them rings an ambulance and the other takes over holding onto him as by this point I have to leave to get to the appointment.

I’m just so glad I didn’t take the bus as I feel I was meant to be there.

I really hope the wound is only superficial but I’m genuinely worried there might be internal injury as he fell with such force onto the tarmac, the poor man.
