Grateful for my new cat who’s still avoiding me.
I adopted a cat a month ago and she's super shy. She was rescued from a colony and is not used to people. She hisses when I get close to her, yet I clean her litter, buy her good quality food even though I'm unemployed and broke, change her water twice a day, bought her toys, paid for her vaccine and flea and deworming medication, and I'm online learning about cats and how I can make her life better every day.
She hisses at and feels no attachment toward me yet, but I still love and worry about her, and it feels great. I love doing things for her. I am very grateful for such a beautiful, delicate, and elegant being in my house. She's shy and scared and hisses when I get close, but that's my cat. I'll be as patient as she needs me to be and this whole time, I'm just grateful she's healthy and has a roof over her head, plenty of warm places to sleep, and no threats from cars or diseases. I'm just grateful for everything surrounding my cat.
